5byebye, itchy scalp!Dec 24, 2010
By Heather M "(a toddler's mommy)"
Every winter, I'd have to decide whether to live with an itchy, flaky scalp (yuck) or use a medicated shampoo that would destroy the flakes and turn my hair into a frizzy mess. To be honest, I wasn't sure which was worse! I was looking around for an alternative that would soothe my itchy scalp without making my hair feel like straw. I stumbled onto this hair/scalp treatment, and figured I'd give it a try. What a great find!

The product itself is a rich, thick cream. I've got thick hair, so it takes a bit of work to massage the cream all the way down into my scalp, but it's worth the few extra minutes in the shower to step out with hair that's soft and conditioned and a scalp that's itch-free. The essential oils (tea tree and peppermint) leave behind a pleasant tingle that lets me know I've really gotten the product rubbed thoroughly into my scalp. Smells fantastic, too! My hair feels great, and my scalp does too. No itching, no flaking, no frizz! Yay!

5best dandruff treatmentDec 25, 2005
By Cup of Tea
This is the best treatment for Dandruff I have ever found. Most scalp treatments for dandruff are harsh on the hair due to chemicals. This uses tea tree oil as the main ingrediant. Great product for the scalp and good for hair as well.

5Good stuffOct 08, 2011
By Alan Kaye
This is a serious treatment for an irritated scalp, or dandruff.
It could help a lot of people, it's helped a family member and me.

This contains Salicylic acid, a treatment for more severe irritation that one might try after finding other treatments don't work like Head and Shoulders (selenium sulfide), Selsun Blue or Redkin (zinc pyrithione)

This same ingredient is also contained in Neutrogena T-Gel if you want to try an alternative.
Please don't be scared off by the sound of the ingredient "salicylic acid", it is the same stuff they put in acne medicines and very similar chemically to aspirin!
If you're not afraid of aspirin you shouldn't be afraid of this.

There's a bunch of other oils in there to calm the scalp, like lavender, jojoba, tea tree.
It's got a strong dollop of peppermint oil which sure wakes you up.
Tea tree oil kills bacteria and is tingly, envigorating... i don't how much it really helps with scalp irritation.

If this doesn't work you might try Nizoral (ketoconazole) -- this is an anti fungal agent, turns out fungus is an incredibly common cause of persistent scalp irritation. If you're still stuck there's coal tar shampoo, which is bringing out the heavy artillery but it really smells bad.

Here's some common contributors to irritated scalp:
Oily hair, hormone changes, stress, illness, infrequent shampooing, food allergies, vitamin B deficiency, yeast infection, hair curlers/blow dryers, cold weather (winter), hair sprays/gels/hair coloring

p.s. paul mitchell also makes probably the most effective chlorine removal hair shampoo if you're a swimmer

5WONDERFUL PRODUCT AND IT TINGLES!Jan 18, 2011
By Cathio
Things I really love I go out of my way to plug. We already use Paul Mitchell tea tree shampoo. I tried this one to see if the conditioner is more conditioning than the regular conditioner. It is, and a wonderful treatment for the scalp and hair. From now on, will use this instead of the regular tea tree conditioner. I just love the way I feel after using these products. I get out of the bath and into my jammies and go lie down on the bed and enjoy the way I feel. I still tingle, that long. It is so relaxing. Try it, you will tingle too! I can get into the shower so stressed and come out relaxed. A wonderful conditioner too! I have long fine hair so tangles are a problem. I also use the Paul Mitchell tea tree all over body conditioner on me and my hair after a bath in addition to the other tea tree products. It feels soooo good and hydrates so well. Nothing like it.

5Fantastic!Jun 27, 2011

I have psoraisis and this is the best non-prescription thing I have found. Lasts 2 days before it is itchy again which is great compared to other things. Also Alterna's LIFE scalp shampoo feels the same as this and is silky for your hair - it is not quite as strong as this is. I recommend rubbing Alterna's Kendi oil (smells great) on your scalp at night and put on a shower cap. Sleep in that. Then use a regular shampoo to wash it out in the morning. Then rub in the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Scalp Treatment - let sit for a few minutes. Then use the Alterna LIFE scalp shampoo and your favorite conditioner (Kerastase!) :)
